PLAY DOWN - to make something seem less important.
Teacher played down my excuse of missing in class so I took very low score.
Some people play down them activity and they don't understand why they are a losers.
PUT UP WITH - to make peace with somebody.
They are going to put up with them.
I think you have to put up with him.
